Scientific writing supports scientists and clinician investigators with grant writing and the publication of results. Scientific writing works in partnership with researchers from project conception through successful publication.
Scientific writing can assist in the following ways:
Grant development
- Guide researchers through the process of proposal submissions, including research concept and hypotheses development
- Provide education, resources and expertise for improving grantsmanship
- Provide support with literature searches
- Identify appropriate funding sources
- Assist with proposal and protocol draft development
- Assist with determining feasibility of study design
- Review final proposals
Scientific Publication
- Develop a plan for writing/ drafting new manuscripts
- Assist in literature searches, manuscript preparation, and identifying appropriate venues for submission
- Provide substantive developmental, stylistic and/or content editing of manuscripts in draft form
- Assist with manuscript revisions and address reviewers’ comments as required
Manuscript Preparation
- Assisting in stylistic and/or content editing of manuscripts in draft form
- Helping identify appropriate venues for submission
- Verifying references and citations using PubMed
- Formatting manuscripts to comply with each journal’s submission requirements and provide cover letters.
- Proofreading for language, grammar, spelling, and punctuation of final manuscript
- Completing copyright transfer and conflict of interest forms as applicable
- Completing the final submission processes
- Assisting with manuscript revisions as necessary
