CIRB, Olanzapine With or Without Fosaprepitant for the Prevention of Chemotherapy Induced Nausea and Vomiting (CINV)in Patients Receiving Highly Emetogenic Chemotherapy (HEC): A Phase III Randomized, Double Blind, Placebo-Controlled Trial
Cancer Symptom Management
Adult
This randomized phase III trial studies how well olanzapine with or without fosaprepitant work in preventing chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy that causes vomiting. Olanzapine and fosaprepitant dimeglumine may help control nausea and vomiting in patients during chemotherapy. Olanzapine is usually given in combination with other drugs, including fosaprepitant dimeglumine. It is not yet known if olanzapine when given with other drugs, is still effective without using fosaprepitant dimeglumine for controlling nausea and vomiting.

CIRB, Increasing Socioeconomically Disadvantaged Patients' Engagement in Breast Cancer Surgery Decision Making Through a Shared Decision Making Intervention
Breast
Adult
Test the effectiveness of a breast cancer surgery decision aid in increasing patient engagement in decision making (measured by knowledge and power) in clinics serving a high proportion of socioeconomically disadvantaged patients. Test the extent to which the effect of a decision aid on patient engagement is mediated through the mitigation of barriers, and determine if persistent barriers are disproportionately experienced by socioeconomically disadvantaged patients.

pCIRB, Risk-Stratified Randomized Phase III Testing of Blinatumomab (IND# 117467, NSC#765986) in First Relapse of Childhood B-Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL)
Leukemia
Child
This randomized phase III trial studies how well blinatumomab works compared with standard combination chemotherapy in treating patients with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia that has returned after a period of improvement (relapsed). Monoclonal antibodies, such as blinatumomab, may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. It is not yet known whether standard combination chemotherapy is more effective than blinatumomab in treating relapsed B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

pCIRB, International Phase 3 Trial in Philadelphia Chromosome-Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (Ph+ALL) Testing Imatinib in Combination With Two Different Cytotoxic Chemotherapy Backbones
Leukemia
Child
This randomized phase III trial studies how well imatinib mesylate and combination chemotherapy work in treating patients with newly diagnosed Philadelphia chromosome positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Imatinib mesylate may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving imatinib mesylate and combination chemotherapy may work better in treating patients with Philadelphia chromosome positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

ICH, A Phase III, Randomized, Double Blind Study Evaluating the Safety of Two Doses of Apixaban For Secondary Prevention of Cancer Related Venous Thrombosis in Subjects Who Have Completed at Least Six months of Anticoagulation Therapy
Cancer Supportive Care
Adult
This randomized phase III trial studies the best dose of apixaban and how well it works in preventing secondary cancer related blood clots in cancer patients who have completed anticoagulation therapy. Apixaban may stop the clotting of blood by blocking some of the enzymes needed for blood clotting.

pCIRB, Phase III Randomized Trial of Post-Radiation Chemotherapy in Patients With Newly Diagnosed Ependymoma Ages 1 to 21 Years
Manalang, Michelle
Central Nervous System
Central Nervous System
Adult, Child
This randomized phase III trial is studying maintenance chemotherapy to see how well it works compared to observation following induction chemotherapy and radiation therapy in treating young patients with newly diagnosed ependymoma. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as vincristine sulfate, carboplatin, cyclophosphamide, etoposide, and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving more than one drug (combination chemotherapy) may kill more tumor cells. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Specialized radiation therapy that delivers a high dose of radiation directly to the tumor may kill more tumor cells and cause less damage to normal tissue. Giving chemotherapy with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells and allow doctors to save the part of the body where the cancer started.

pCIRB, A Phase 2 Study of Veliparib (ABT-888, IND# 139199) and Local Irradiation, Followed by Maintenance Veliparib and Temozolomide, in Patients with Newly Diagnosed High-Grade Glioma (HGG) without H3 K27M or BRAFV600E Mutations
Central Nervous System
Child
This phase II trial studies how well veliparib, radiation therapy, and temozolomide work in treating participants with newly diagnosed malignant glioma without H3 K27M or BRAFV600E mutations. Veliparib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as temozolomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving veliparib, radiation therapy, and temozolomide may work better in treating participants with newly diagnosed malignant glioma without H3 K27M or BRAFV600E mutations.
